Destini's bio
Here at Cultured Roots, my mission is helping you have healthy hair, no matter the color of your skin or the curl pattern on your head. Whether it's protective hair styling or natural hair, I want you to love the hair you're in while maintaining healthy hair strands.
Hi, my name is Destini and I am a Los Angeles, California native and moved to Bozeman, MT in 2011 to play basketball for the Bobcats. My career was cut short due to a career ending injury, but when one door closes, another one opens. I taught myself how to braid my own hair when I first moved here because I quickly realized that there was NO WHERE that could serve me. In 2018, I began embarking on my journey to open Cultured Roots and in 2020 decided to quit my full time job and go to cosmetology school. In 2021, I became a licensed cosmetologist and am now renting a suite in the Gildhouse Suites.
I love my job because it found me and I am proud to be the owner and operator of Cultured Roots. I have the opportunity to make every person that sits in my chair feel great about themselves. I also get to meet new people every day. I am always taking courses to learn the latest trends and styles to offer to my clients! I look forward to giving you a Cultured Roots Experience!
Shukare's bio
I have dreamed of becoming a hair stylist since I was 10 years old and it's surreal to have my dream come true. I can't wait to share it with you all!!
Hello, my name is Shukare. I was adopted from Ethiopia and came to to the US in 2010. I quickly learned that there was no salon that could serve my hair needs. So I taught myself how to braid on my own head and from there I started doing other people's hair and instantly fell in love with braiding.
My vision was always bigger than simply braiding hair. I want to free others from the same hair problems I had growing up in Montana. My dream is to create a space where others with similar struggles can come, feel heard, and get the service they deserve. I also eventually want to teach others how to braid.
In 2021, I decided to go to cosmetology school in Bozeman to get my license. I met Destini French, owner of Cultured Roots, in cosmetology school and was excited by the opportunity of collaboration. With this partnership, I can begin the journey of bringing change to this community. I am looking forward to meeting you!
